I would Like to see a competitive league...where as the better people u play the better u get.
food for thought ...
MCPL reputation - Previous management has not helped at all.
Here's the 3 big things that folks questioned that are not in our league.
- MONEY - Previous management was not honest about where the leagues money went. The current director of treasury has taken care of that issue.
- ATTITUDE - Previous managment had a "Better than everyone else" attitude. Poor attitudes will not help the league in anyway shape or form. MCPL would like to ENCOURAGE good sportsmanship now.
- PAYOUT - Some would like to see a huge payout for the top. Most would like to see points per ball payed out. Cedar Rapids pays points only. Charles city pays points only. Algona pays points only. D N R out of minnesota pays points only. Here's a kicker: D N R only payed back 4.5 cents per point. MCPL payed over 4 times that.
With that said, I believe the league will grow with the current positive attitudes the directors are presenting. What's best for the league? What's the league want to do? Showing where the league's money is. ENCOURAGING good sportsmanship. As MCPL reputation becomes more creditable, more level A,AA, and master players will WANT to shoot in our league and MCPL then should be able to split off into divisions. The competitive division will happen, it's just going to take some time.
My advice, Hang in there. Good things are coming. Heck, MCPL grew 14% this year. If anymore teams join up next year, MCPL will have to split up into divisions because there will not be enough time in the season to play every one twice. At that point, I see a competitive division forming!!!
18 teams would be perfect for the split. Division A would have 9 teams and would play first round for 8 weeks. Division B will be similiar. By the way you only need 8 weeks to play in all the state tournaments.
