I highly encourage anyone and everyone in MCPL to post what you would like to see in our league in this forum. You as members are owners of this league. What do you want?

What direction would you like to see the our league follow? Here's some examples:
1. A competive geared league
2. Drink til ya puke league

Anything posted will be brought to the captains meeting for discussion.

Thanks for you input,
Tim Huh

I would Like to see a competitive league...where as the better people u play the better u get.
Have some incentive to play for First Place instead of "Just for Fun."

I would Like to see a competitive league...where as the better people u play the better u get.

food for thought ...

MCPL reputation - Previous management has not helped at all.

Here's the 3 big things that folks questioned that are not in our league.

- MONEY - Previous management was not honest about where the leagues money went. The current director of treasury has taken care of that issue.
- ATTITUDE - Previous managment had a "Better than everyone else" attitude. Poor attitudes will not help the league in anyway shape or form. MCPL would like to ENCOURAGE good sportsmanship now.
- PAYOUT - Some would like to see a huge payout for the top. Most would like to see points per ball payed out. Cedar Rapids pays points only. Charles city pays points only. Algona pays points only. D N R out of minnesota pays points only. Here's a kicker: D N R only payed back 4.5 cents per point. MCPL payed over 4 times that.

With that said, I believe the league will grow with the current positive attitudes the directors are presenting. What's best for the league? What's the league want to do? Showing where the league's money is. ENCOURAGING good sportsmanship. As MCPL reputation becomes more creditable, more level A,AA, and master players will WANT to shoot in our league and MCPL then should be able to split off into divisions. The competitive division will happen, it's just going to take some time.

My advice, Hang in there. Good things are coming. Heck, MCPL grew 14% this year. If anymore teams join up next year, MCPL will have to split up into divisions because there will not be enough time in the season to play every one twice. At that point, I see a competitive division forming!!!

18 teams would be perfect for the split. Division A would have 9 teams and would play first round for 8 weeks. Division B will be similiar. By the way you only need 8 weeks to play in all the state tournaments.

You are absolutely right Tim. It will only grow and get better. Hopefully now that you've explained it so plainly we can move forward and not have to mention past management anymore. Two thumbs up!

Now, the reason I got on here...

How about a Rookie of the Year?

How would you define a "Rookie of the Year"? What quantitative proof would be needed to declare someone as the "Rookie of the Year"?

Is declaring someone as
"Rookie of the year"
a popularity contest like MVP was last year?

The gal that runs Charles City pool league actually goes through the stats to declare a MVP...

Rookie: Someone who is new to the roster. Someone who has not played pool on the MCPL Wednesday night Ball-in-hand before.

Of the Year: Best annual score of all rookies (see above) for the season.

And absolutely it is not a popularity contest. I see it as an incentive for new players to shoot their best, and also as a way to show ppl interested in joining our league that we ARE a competitive league. Or at least that we are trying to be:)

It would be based on scores. Period. That's how I personally feel MPV should go, or actually eliminate it entirely. Keeping it from becoming a popularity contest would mean you'd figure it by score, it would just be whomever is ranked #1. A rose by any other name...   Stick with "most improved" and think about rookie of the year.

VERY GOOD IDEA !!! I agree with the "Rookie of the year" !!! This is will give someone a chance to earn a little bit of credit with the pool league who has never played before. Most Improved Player and Rookie of the year shall be determined by the stats this year. I will gather the stats and the end of the year and come up with a couple of qualifiers.

Thanks for the suggestion JHouston. Anyone else have any suggestions??
